1. Loose Rules: Having strict rules in any child care facility is important for a child's development and their safety. If strict rules aren't seen in a facility, this likely means that organizational skills of the facility are off, as well. So, when you visit a facility, be sure that you ask to see written safety guidelines and rules that are followed on a day-to-day basis. This includes rules for the parents and staff too, such as insisting that parents keep a child home if he or she is sick, and instructing staff members to stay home, as well, if they have signs of illness. If a child care facility cannot provide written rules and regulations for you to see, then this is a bad sign and you should probably stay clear. 

2. No Clear Curriculum: When you drop your children off at a child care facility, you expect them to experience many different activities throughout the day. After all, you don't want your child sitting in front of the television for eight hours while you are at work. There should be a clear curriculum that shows your children aren't restricted to one activity a day. This is bad for development and for their futures in a schooling system, as well. So be sure that you ask for a sample copy of the typical daily curriculum. 

3. An Unqualified Staff: All staff members at the facility should be highly qualified to care for children. After all, if there was an emergency, you would want every staff member to be able to assist in the problem. This means all staff members should provide proof of CPR training, two years of schooling in child development.
